Plural of nouns ending in -o

Italian for people in a hurry

Nouns ending in -o in Italian are almost always masculine and form their plural by removing -o and adding -i.

A noun is something you can touch (a flower, a chair) or an idea (freedom, rage).

Plural means “more than one”: some candies, three dogs, etc.

Libro > Libri
Tavolo > Tavoli
Gatto > Gatti

Examples

Compro molti libri.
I buy a lot of books.

I tavoli sono occupati.
The tables are occupied.

Mi piacciono i gatti.
I like cats.
