Get something across to somebody significa invece “comunicare in modo chiaro, fare arrivare un messaggio”.

| It took me at least half an hour to get the message across to him in English. | Mi ci è voluta almeno mezz’ora per fargli arrivare il messaggio in inglese. |

Get somebody/something across something significa “trasportare qualcuno o qualcosa da una parte all’altra”.
| I needed to get the people across the river. | Dovevo portare le persone dall’altra parte del fiume. |
| More goods means more shipping containers to get them across the ocean. | Più merci significano più container per poterle trasportare attraverso l’oceano. |
