Where does this idiom come from?
When you’re on a pedestal, you’re looking at everyone from the top down. You’re standing in a crowd, you’re highly visible…as you think you deserve to be. When you get off the pedestal, you’re back into the crowd. You are no longer in a higher position, but you are just like everybody else. You are humbled.
