Italian phrases for emergencies

Note: If you are in Italy and ever find yourself in an emergency, these are the Italian emergency numbers you can dial:

  • 112 – for Carabinieri (military police), see below
  • 113 – for Polizia (police)
  • 115 – for Vigili del fuoco or Pompieri (fire brigade)
  • 118 – for calling an ambulance

Note that if you can’t remember a specific number, 112 is the European unified number for emergencies and will work in Italy as well.
